Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify constitution by using an amplitude-modulation type power source for the power amplification of stereophonic acoustic signals and by varying the power voltage of an output stage following up either one of left and right channel signals whose absolute value level is greater. CONSTITUTION:Left and right channel signals of a two-channel stereophonic acoustic signal are inputted to terminals 21 and 22, and an absolute-value detecting circuit 23 outputs a control signal which corresponds to a level greater in absolute value between the left and right channel signals. According to the amplitude of said control signal, a switching power source 24 modulates a commercial power voltage and applies the resulting voltage to a transmission transformer T3. The output of the transformer T3 is demodulated by diode Ds 5 and 6 and capacitor Cs 5 and 6 and the demodulated voltage is applied as an output-stage power voltage to amplifying circuits 25 and 26. The said left and right channel signals are inputted via terminals 27 and 28 to the amplifying circuits 25 and 26 to be amplified and their outputs are supplied to speakers 29 and 30.
