Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a Zn diffusion layer on surfaces, protect apparatus and materials from corrosion and reduce working load by performing brazing in an inert gas through using the fluoride type flux contg. Zn of prescribed grain sizes mixed at specific weight ratios.
CONSTITUTION: Fluoride type flux powder of KAlF4, K3AlF6, etc. and Zn powder of 1W200μm grain sizes are agitated and suspended in liquid such as water or alcohol at (4W9):(6W1) ratios. Next, joining materials of aluminum or its alloy having been beforehand subjected to pretreatment such as degreasing are immersed in the suspension or the suspension is coated thereon. Thence, the joining materials are dried to remove the stuck liquid and to stick said mixture. Next, the joining materials are brazed at the temp. lower than the m.p. of the joining materials and higher than the m.p. of the mixture in an inert gas. At this time, at ≥60wt% Zn and ≤40wt% flux, the flux is less and the performance degrades. At ≤10wt% Zn and ≥90wt% flux, the amount of Zn is less and the effect of corrosion prevention is low. At ≤1μm grain size of Zn, the diffusion layer of Zn is difficult to form, and at ≥200μm it separates from the flux, and it is difficult to obtain the uniform Zn diffusion layer.
