Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an infrared detector to be miniaturized as well as the measuring accuracy to be improved, by employing a pair of vibrators which have infrared ray passing and nonpassing parts and vibrate at cycles different from each other, in order to intermittently interrupt the incident infrared rays. CONSTITUTION:The incident infrared rays are interrupted by using a pair of vibrators which have infrared ray passing and nonpassing parts and vibrate at cycles different from each other. A detector which generates an electric charge according to the change in the infrared ray strengh on doing this is used together therewith to constitute an infrared detector. For example, the infrared rays emitted from a body 1 being inspected are focused by means of a lens 2 and then passed through a pair of vibrators 4 and 5 which have infrared ray passing and nonpassing parts and vibrate at frequencies different from each other, before being detected by using a pyroelectric detector 11. A diode 12 and a processor 13 perform the room temperature correction, and a display device 11 displays the result. In said method, no motor and chopper are needed, and the cycles of the vibrators are accurate. Accordingly, it becomes possible both to miniaturize the measuring instrument and to improve the measuring accuracy.
