Abstract
PURPOSE:To deflect light beam at a high speed by making the leading end of an optical fiber freely oscillatable. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate part of an optical fiber 12 connected at its root end to a light source 11 is fixed to the root end of a housing 13 having a tapered pipe shape, and the leading end part of the optical fiber is made freely oscillatable around this root end. A rod lens 14 for light focusing and a rigid oscillating cylinder 15 conneting the fiber 12 are fitted to this leading end part, and the root end part of said cylinder is supported in the housing 13 via a spring 16. Magnetic materials 19, 20 are affixed to the leading end of said cylinder and the degree of deflection of the fiber 12 is changed by controlling the magnitude of the electric current to be flowed to a pair of electromagnetics 17, 18 which are fixed in the housing and oppose to each other by holding the fiber 12 therebetween in its diametral direction.
