Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable highly-precise detection of stress by providing a linear body in a transparent plastic isotropic body and by measuring the intensity of a light in the direction of the axial line of the linear body generated by a load applied to the linear body. CONSTITUTION:The linear body 3 having a bending angle of 90 deg. is provided on the surface 2 of the isotropic body 1 made of transparent plastic and a light source 8 is detected in the axial direction of the linear body 3 by a photoelectric transducing element 10. When the compression load is applied to the isotropic body 1 by a load converter 4, an optical waveguide path 6 is formed in the direction of the axial line of the linear body 3 and the intensity of the transmitted light from the light source 8 through the optical waveguide path 6 is proportional to the compression load applied. Therefore, by measuring the intensity of the transmitted light, the stress generated in the isotropic body can be measured.
