Abstract

PURPOSE:To take measurements at many points by using multichannle optical fiber cable and a field lens. CONSTITUTION:The plural number of measured points are formed images by means of an image formation lens 1, while the end surface of a multichannel optical fiber cable 2 is arranged in a position for image formation. Outlets of the fibers are arranged on inlet slits 3 in the order of the channels 1ch-4ch. The incidental light of each channel that has entered the inlet slit 3 passes through a field lens 4, a reflex mirror 5, a collimater lens 6, diffraction grids 7 and the collimater lens 6, and then becomes incident upon the end surface of a two dimensional fiber array 8. Due to the fiber array 8 and a group of photomultiplier 9, the image formation surface is used to measure light by two-dimensionally dividing the surface in a lengthwise direction and the direction of the wave. By so doing, a compact multichannel instrument for measuring Thomson scattering with easy alignment.
