Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain dropout detection easily and securely by applying D type FF with a clock of a frequency nearly equal to an FM reproduced signal and then by storing for a certain time the state of the FM reproduced signal input applied at the fall of the clock.
CONSTITUTION: Once a reproduced FM signal amplitude-limited by limiter 1 is applied to free-running delayed multivibrator 2, multivibrator 2 generates and applies a clock signal, which has a frequency nearly equal to that of the FM reproduced signal and is slightly delayed, to D type FF5 and an inverted clock passed through inverter 7 is applied to D type FF6. Then, FF5 and 6 remember the states of the FM reproduced signal amplitude-limited through limiter 4 and synchronizing pulses in one period from the fall to the next fall to the clock respectively. Therefore, FF6 and 5 generate low-level outputs according to positive and negative-side dropouts and the high-level output of NAND gate 8 serves as the dropout detection signal, thereby detecting the dropouts easily and securely.
