Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled steel by lowering the Mn, P and S contents of steel, adding a specified amount of Ca correspondingly to the S content, and lowering the nonmetallic inclusion content.
CONSTITUTION: This steel contains 0.02W0.20% C, 0.01W0.50% Si, 0.50W1,20% Mn, <0.012% P, <0.003% S and 0.01W0.10% Al while adjusting the C and Mn contents to C%+Mn%/6≤0.37%. Ca is added to the steel so as to satisfy 2≤Ca%/ S%≤10. One or more among 0.01W0.50% Cu, 0.01W0.50% Cr, 0.01W0.50% Mo and 0.01W0.10% Ni may be added furthermore. The cleanliness of nonmetallic inclusions such as Al2O3 contained in the steel is lowered to ≤40-10-3%. This line pipe steel has superior resistance to hydrogen induced crack and sulfide stress corrosion crack in wet hydrogen sulfide environment.
