Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce dielectric loss noises which are the essential component of a noise output, by interposing an electronic cooling element between a container which contains a pyroelectric material, and the pyroelectric material. CONSTITUTION:On the photodetection surface of pyroelectric crystal 11, photodetection electrode 12 is formed and at the circumferential edge part of photodetection electrode 12, bonding electrode 13 is formed. On the reverse surface of pyroelectric crystal 11, earth electrode 14 is formed. To the surface where earth electrode 14 is formed, conductive heat shielding material 15 is bonded and fixed. On mount base 16, the electronic cooling element consisting of metal pieces 19a and 19b and semiconductor 20 provided between those metal pieces 19a and 19b is mounted and fixed. The pyroelectric body is cooled nearly to the temperature of the counter surface of the electronic cooling element through heat shielding body 15.
