Abstract

PURPOSE:To indicate a feed amount which is kept from influence due to backlash, by a method wherein an encoder pulse generated resulting from the rotation of a feed screw is computed by eliminating an error produced due to backlash stored in a preset counter. CONSTITUTION:A sine waveform, which is different in advance and delay and 90 deg. different in phase, is detected according to the turning direction by means of a slit plate 30 and the like of an encoder 34 turning in synchronism with a feed screw, and a decision circuit 38 decides the rotation direction of the feed screw. In the case of feeding in the clockwise direction through the circuit 38, a reversible counter 44 up-computes an encode pulse, and in the case of feeding in the reverse direction, it down-computes the pulse. Through the reverse turning of the feed screw after feeding in the clockwise direction is completed, a backlash amount passing through a circuit 38 and stored in a preset counter 42 is reduced and a circuit 40 is closed until the backlash is eliminated. Thus, a feed amount of a machine tool, based on computation of the counter 44 kept from influence due to the backlash, is indicated in a digital manner in an indicator 14.
