A deflecting yoke 9 having an uneven magnetic field distribution is mounted to such CRT10. In such an extremely simple mechanical constitution, a sufficient compensation is secured for a picture distortion on the projection screen 4. As a result, an economical and stable picture can be obtained without using any complicated electrical compensating circuit.
