Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition giving a soft, wear-resisting film on a metal surface, which is obtd. by the addition of an aminosilane cpd. and an epoxy group contg. silane cp. to a stock soln. contg. a partially hydrolyzed alkoxy-silane cpd., followed by cohydrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: An alkoxysilane cp. of formula I, II (wherein R1 is 6C or lower straight-chain or branched alkyl or phenyl; R2 is 4C or lower straight-chain or branched alkyl or H) is partially hydrolyzed with addition of a polyhydric alcohol and 3W20pts.wt., based on 100pts.wt. said alkoxysilane cp., polyethylene glycol. The titled composition is obtd. by the addition of 33W35pts.wt. aminosilane cpd. of formula III, IV (wherein R3 is 6C or lower straight-chain or branched alkyl), etc., 40W65pts.wt. epoxy group contg. silane cpd. or oligo(co)polymer thereof, water, a solvent, an acid catalyst, etc. to 100pts.wt. resulting hydrolyzed soln., followed by cohydrolysis.
