PURPOSE:To grasp the total number of pictures in a program, the order of a current picture and the time until the next cycle, by transmitting a control signal from a transmission side together with added information regarding the program and by detecting and displaying the code at a reception side. CONSTITUTION:To the transmission side which multiplexes a picture signal, control signal and sound encoded signal in time-division mode, program-picture-frame-code adding circuit 12, program-constitution code adding circuit 13, and next-picture- transmission-time-information adding circuit 14 are added. At the reception side, respective detecting circuits are provided, and over monitor picture C, for example, signal A from the program-picture-frame-code detecting circuit and signal B from th program-constitution-code detecting circuit are displayed differing in color by using a bar graph or numbers, thereby displaying how many pictures C the program consists of and what is the order of the current screen. Further, the time when the next frame is received is displayed on LED, etc., with signal from the next-picture-time detecting circuit.
