PURPOSE:To keep the natural tone of playback picture and to increase the sharpness of it, by improving the separation characteristics of carrier chrominance signal and the luminance of composite video signal, eliminating various interferences, and making the profile correction of the luminance signal in a good balance in the horizontal direction and simultaneously in the vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:A signal (M-(B+T)/2) (where; M is delayed composite video signal and B is the direct composite video signal not delayed) is fed to the circuit consisting of an amplifier 29 and LPF31, where the vertical direction change GV(M-(B+T)/2)L only of the luminance signal is picked up as the vertical direction profile correction signal. On the other hand, the luminance signal (M+(B+T)/2) is fed to the circuit consisting of delay lines 35, 36, 37 having various characteristics and addition circuit 38 to introduce the horizontal direction profile correction signal (C-(L+R)/2) (where; C, L, R are output signals on the delay lines 35, 36, 37).
