Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically control the spreading and folding of sails, by coupling the plural sails, which are made of a hard material, so that they can be optionally spread and folded and by vertically moving the sails along guide poles.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of bracket 12 are attached to a mast 11. A sail support frame 15, which comprises guide poles 13, 13 and yards 14, is mounted on the brackets 12 so that the frame 15 can be horizonally swung. Guide rails 16 are laid on the guide poles 13 in their longitudinal directions. Hard sail panels 17, which are divided from each other, are fitted on the guide rails 16 so that the panels 17 can be vertically moved. The panels 17 can be housed in sail housing space 18 between the mast 11 and the poles 13 at the lower ends of the guide rails.
