Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate work for retyping and thus to perform an efficient typing work in a short time by inserting a new character string in a sentence once typed.

CONSTITUTION: Characters AWE are printed on a paper (Fig. 1), and characters in a memory are binary-coded and arranged from the memory head as indicated in Fig. 2. In this case, a pointer PT and an end memory pointer MPT point the empty head of the memory. To insert X and Y between C and D, BACK SPACE key is depressed twice to get a carriage back, a printing head is moved to D position, and PT is positioned as shown in Fig. 3. Next, INSERT key is depressed to print (,) on C and D, and a line on the paper is advanced. Then, X to insert is keyed to print on the paper as shown in Fig. 4, and X is inserted between C and D in the memory (Fig. 5). Then, Y is inserted between X and D likewise as shown in Fig.6, 7, RETURN key is depressed to finish insertion, PRINT key is depressed after changing the line, and thus the memory contents corrected like fig. 8 are printed.
