Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the reflection on the surface of a plastic lens, by coating a thin film of Al2O3 on the surface of the plastic lens and then a thin film of MgF2 on the Al2O3 film. CONSTITUTION:The Al2O3 thin film II having a high adhesion to the plastic B with a larger refractive index than the same plastic is coated by vapor deposition on the surface of an optical parts such as a plastic lens or the like. Furthermore the thin film I of MgF2 having a smaller refractive index is evaporated on the film II to obtain an evaporated film C. Thus the spectral reflection properties of the plastic lens can be varied to the wavelength of incident rays by changing the thickness of the film II and film I each.
