Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the torsion of a shaft with high precision and high reliability by giving a linear pattern to the rotary shaft and by detecting and analizing the same by an optical sensor. CONSTITUTION:When a beam of light is applied from a light source device 9 to the linear marking pattern 7 given to the rotary shaft 6 through optical sensor 8A and 8B respectively under the condition that the rotary shaft 6 is rotated, it is reflected on the marking pattern 7. The reflected beam is received by the light source device 9 through the optical sensors 8A and 8B and thence introduced into an operation device 10 on the next stage. Based on this input, the operation device 10 calculates the amount of torsional distorsion and a processing device 11 prepares a time curve of the tortional distortion on the basis of the amount of the tortional distorsion.
