Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a temp. drop of sheet glass in working an enable sufficient tempering in a tempering process by attaching a heating unit to a press die to heat a glass contacting portion.
CONSTITUTION: Groups 5 each composed of flat Nichrome wires 4 arranged in a row are arranged in a row at a glass contacting portion of at least one of male and female press dies, and each group 5 is electrically connected to secondary side 6 of a transformer. Both ends of group 5 are supported by supports 8 through springs 7. When heated glass taken out of a heating furnace is pressed between the dies, since wires 4 of at least one of the dies are heated with power source 6, the die temp. is raised not to cool the glass in curving. Accordingly, in the next rapid cooling process the glass can be tempered by immediate rapid cooling. The press dies have the effect of uniformly distributing the glass, in curving, unevenly heated in the heating furnace.
