Abstract

PURPOSE: To polish the end face of a bar of very small diameter perpendicularly to the axis of the bar without nicking the end, by fixing the bar in the groove of a holder and polishing the end face of the bar together with the holder.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of pipes 11 of very small diametr are arranged in the grooves 13 of a holder 12. A fixing agent 15 is filled in the gaps in the grooves 13 so that the pipes 11 are fixed in the grooves. The pipes 11 are cut off to a prescribed length together with the holder 12. The end faces of the pipes 11 are polished perpendicularly to their axes by a polisher without nicking the ends as the pipes remain fixed on the holder 12.
