Abstract

PURPOSE: To directly produce high purity calcium cyanamide in one-step reaction process by countercurrently contacting a mixed gas of a gas formed by subliming urea or cyanic acid and a carrier gas to solid raw material in a nonoxidizing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: One or more kinds of solid raw materials selected from quick lime, slaked lime and CaCO3 of ordinary temp.W130°C crushed to about 5mm or less in diameter with crusher 1 are introduced into multistage countercurrent fluidized bed reactor 5, through line 2, hopper 3 and line 4, made of nonferrous fire-resistant material or lined with the material and kept at 500W900°C. On the other hand, crystal urea or cyanic acid and a carrier gas such as NH3 or CO2 are supplied to sublimation unit 7 from lines 6, 8 and heated to about 150W250°C with steam from line 12 to sublime the urea. The mixed gas is introduced into reactor 5 from line 9, countercurrently contacted to the solid raw materials, and reacted to form calcium cyanamide, which is then taken out of line 10.
