Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the unit which can detect the displacement with high accuracy, without being affected with the signal speed propagating the magnetostrict lines with a simple construction, by converting the mechanical displacement into electric signal through the use of magnetostrictlines for displacement detection.
CONSTITUTION: The unit consists of the exciting means 4 in displacement relatively in response to the mechanical displacement and coupled with the magnetostrict lines 1, first reception means 2 and second reception means 3 coupled with the lines 1 and located via it clipping the exciting means 4, circuit means PG giving the excitation pulse signal PE to the exciting means 4 in the period related to the sum of two times inputting the two signals related to the time when the signal produced in the lines 1 reaches the first and second reception means, and the circuit means inputting the signals e1, e2 from the first or second reception means and the exciting pulse signal PE and obtaining the pulse width signal having the duty ratio related to the mechanical displacement.
