Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a colored film of high hardness and sharp color hue, by applying DC voltage for a specified period of time to Al (alloy) on which Al anodic oxidation film is formed in a sulfamic acid bath, and lowering this voltage as intermediate treatment, then electrolytically coloring Al (alloy).
CONSTITUTION: A DC voltage is applied for a specified period of time to Al (alloy) on which Al anodic oxidation film is formed, in a single bath of aqueous solution of sulfamic acid (10W100g/l) or in a bath mixed with sulfuric acid (1W5g/l) or oxalic acid (1W10g/l). As an intermediate treatment, the DC voltage applied 10W80V is reduced to 5W20V at a rate of (2W10)V/min. Then, the Al (alloy) is colored in an electrolytic coloring solution by ordinary method. In this process, because of the intermediate treatment to drop the voltage, the hardness is higher, as compared with the conventional method of forming a film for several minutes as a secondary process in a bath containing (pyro) phosphoric acid, and also the film is hardly soiled, so that a clear, sharp colored film may be obtained.
