Abstract

PURPOSE: To retain correct time data all the time by alternatively connecting an alternating-current power supply as a main power supply and a battery power supply as an auxiliary power supply to a timer circuit which counts time through the arithmetic processing of a microcomputer.
CONSTITUTION: Microcomputer CPU1, having a clocking function by a program, is operated by an AC power supply through power circuit 2 and as circuits which can operate by battery power supply 3, CMOS timer circuit 4 generating a pulse at every one minute, counter circuit 5 and RAM circuit 6 are provided. Then, CPU1 is given a command at every one minute and CPU1 performs arithmetic and then writes its result in RAM circuit 6. Therefore, even if the AC power supply would be cut off, time data are retained and counter circuit 5 is put into operation by power supply 3, so that when the AC power supply recovers, a correction to current time can be made without causing any difference.
