Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A cyclohexane derivative of formula I: (R is carboxyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl, or hydroxymethyl group; X and Y are H, OH, or lower alkoxy groups; however R is hydroxymethyl group when X and Y are H).
EXAMPLE: cis-1-Methyl-4-(4-hydroxy-4-methyl)pentylcyclohexane carboxylic acid.
USE: Medicines having antiallergic, antitumor, antirheumatic, and liver function improving actions free from side feects.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. palladium carbon, in an inert solvent, e.g. methanol, at room temperature or under heating, to give the compound of formula I wherein X is H. The cis- and trans-isomers, which are geometrical isomers, can be separated by the difference in reactivity of the functional group and stereostructure.
