Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the gain and the band width product mainly at the frequency band higher than 10 GHz thus to stabilize the operation, by properly selecting the external Q determined by the coupling between the output cavity of crystron amplifier and the external circuit.
CONSTITUTION: The high frequency circuit 6 performing mutual function with the electron beam of crystron amplifier is cmprised of four cavities arranged sequencially along the beam path. Each cavity is separated by a drift tube 7. The signal wave power to be amplified is applied through an input wave guide 8 on the tube 1. Said signal wave power performs speed modulation on the electron beam 4 at the input cavity 6', then the speed modulated electron beam 4 is converted through an intermediate cavity 6" and an output cavity 6''' into electric energy and taken out from an output wave guide 10. The external Q determined by the size of coupling hole of the output cavity 6''' and the output waveguide 10 has special relation with the parallel impedance and the DC conductance of electron beam.
