Abstract

PURPOSE: Main and auxiliary power supplies are provided to an alkali metal electrolytic bath system, so that when the main power stops, the auxiliary power continues to feed corrosion resistant current preventing reverse current generation.
CONSTITUTION: DC power supply Rec-1, and each of auxiliary DC power supplies Rec-21...Rec-2n are connected to each of electrolytic bath C1...Cn in parallel. The power supply Rec-1 is controlled to a constant current with set value S1 by use of a constant current controller Am-1 and a current detector A. Each Rec-21...Rec-2n provides corrosion resistant current inherent to each of bath. At normal operation, both power supplies, Rec-1 and group of Rec-2 feed current to the baths. When abnormality occurs to any one of the baths, the switch breaker SW separates the faulty bath from the main power, while corrosion resistant current is being fed from the auxilary power supply to the faulty bath, preventing reverse current generation.
