Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the number of the logic elements as well as to shorten the time required for correction by simplifying the constitution of the logic circuit which is used for the correction circuit in the parallel decimal adder/subtractor using the binary coded decimal code.
CONSTITUTION: Two binary coded decimal (BCD) codes perform the hexadecimal addition and subtraction by the indication of the addition or subtraction and then delivers hexadecimal carry (or borrow) signal Cn' plus each weight addition/subtraction output S'1, S'2, S'4 and S'8 to then supply these to the correction circuit for correction into the BCD codes. The correction circuit gives the indication for the correction of addition or subtraction via control signal G2 and G3. And in the case of addition, decimal carry signal C'n+1 is obtained through the logic circuit of C'n+S'8(S'+S'2) with S'1 delivered directly.
