Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title cover glass with a nonreflecting effect by forming a soft metal thin film of a specified thickness and a coating film on the surface of inorg. glass to prevent deterioration in strength of the glass.
CONSTITUTION: Below 100 Å thick, thin film 2 of soft metal selected from Au, Ag and In is formed by vacuum deposition on the surface of inorg. glass 1 strengthened by forming a compressive stress layer. On the film 2 coating film 3 of metal, oxide, nitride, fluoride or the like is formed by vacuum deposition to obtain a laminate of glass 1-soft metal thin film 2-coating film 1. Thus, internal stress formed at the interface between glass 1 and film 3 is absorbed in thin film 2 and allowed to disappear.
