Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the corrosion resistance of the magnetic metal powder by a procedure in which a magnetic metal powder is suspended in an organic solvent without acid groups and then an oxidative gas is blown into the suspension under a heating condition.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic metal powder is sustended in organic solvent without acid group, e.g., toluene, xylene, butyl acetate, etc., and then air is blown into the suspension heated to an appropriate temperature at approx. 50W130°C to forcibly oxidize the surfaces of the magnetic metal powder, whereby forming a dense and passive film on the surfaces of the magnetic metal powder. Thus, the corrosion resistance of the magnetic metal powder is greatly improved and also the lowering with time of the saturated magnetizing amount is eliminated, thus raising its storage stability.
