Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the fuel gas having an appropriate air-fuel ratio in a stable manner and to enable to control the strength of combustion over a wide range with ease without causing back-firing and separation of flame, by employing an arrangement in which a combustion chamber and a liquid-fuel mixing chamber are disposed separately on the opposite sides of a sponge-like ceramic element.

CONSTITUTION: Fuel is atomized into fine particles by fan 15 and blown onto the inner surface of a casing 7 defining a mixing chamber. Fuel on the inner surface of the casing 7 is heated and evaporated by a heater 9, and the vaporized fuel is first mixed with air supplied from an air chamber and carried via ports 6a, 6a to the peripheral portion of a sponge-like ceramic element 5. At the same time, combustion air is supplied from the air chamber via air passage 8 to the peripheral surface of the ceramic element 5 defining the secondary air inlet port 10, so that fuel and air are mixed again in the ceramic element 5. After the air-fuel ratio is optimized in the ceramic element 5, the fuel gas is blown out uniformly from the front surface of the element 5. Therefore, blue-flame combustion of the fuel gas is caused over the entire front surface of the ceramic element 5.
