Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve vibration absorbing performance and machinability, by coupling under pressure a damping effect improving member of a soft metal like lead onto a rigid member of steel plate or the like having undercuts on its surface. CONSTITUTION:A combined vibration-absorbing material 1A is manufactured by placing a lead plate 5 on the surface of steel sheet metal 2 after forming, for instance, a number of sharp parallel projections 4 with undercuts 3 in the surface of steel sheet 2, and then coupling them each other with application of pressure. In applying pressure to the lead plate 5, projections 4 of metal sheet 2 having a higher hardness than lead plate 5 are forced into the surface of lead plate 5, so that they are coupled firmly with each other mechanically. Resultantly, it is enabled to improve the vibration-absorbing performance as well as machinability since the strength of bonding can be increased considerably.
