Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the reflection type photoelectric switch which is capable of detecting the minute change of object surfaces with high sensitivity and a simple constitution by comparing the output being the ratio of specular reflection and diffused reflection with a reference voltage and producing a signal when this is exceeded.
CONSTITUTION: A photoelectric switch 1 consists of a light source 2, lens 3, photodetectors 4, 5. A photodetector 4 receives specular reflected light and the other photodetector 5 receives the diffusion reflected light from the subject X. These lights are fed to electric circuits then through circuits such as level regulators 8, 9 and the ratio of the both inputs is outputted by a divider 16 and is compared with the output of a reference voltage generator 17. Here, when the divider output is higher than the reference voltage, the detection signal I is outputted from a comparator 18. This enables the change in minute reflected light quantity to be substantially increased of sensitivity and detected and enables the photoelectric switch of extremely high accuracy to be obtained.
