Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the conductivity and mechanical strength of foamed metal by the procedure in which a natural or synthetic resin wire or belt-like plate is held on a foamed resin plate and then plated with a metal wholly. CONSTITUTION:A natural or synthetic resin wire or belt of cotton, cellulose acetate, polyamide, polyester, polypropylene, polyethylene, etc., is attached to a foamed resin plate of polyurethane, polystyrol, urea resin, polyvinyl chloride, etc., and then subjected to a non-electrolytic plating, followed by an electrolytic plating, whereby the wire or belt-like plate and foamed resin plate are connected with a metal and at the same time a continuous metal film is formed over the wire or belt-like plate. Then, the metal film is heated and annealed to remove the resin and also to obtain an electrode base consisting of foamed metal integrally combined with a metal wire or belt.
