Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an easily-built compact and cheap protector which is for the ink jet recorder of a desk calculator or the like having a liquid absorber containing a solvent of high boiling point and removably fitted at an outlet orifice. CONSTITUTION:In a compact electronic desk calculator or the like employing an ink jet recording head, a cap 7 in which a liquid absorber 12 containing a solvent of high boiling point is housed is provided in a position facing the tip of the outlet orifice 12 of the recording head placed in a reset position. In print-scanning, the cap 7 is retracted to a position distant from the outlet orifice 11 depending on a signal. When the recording head 1 is returned to the reset position, the cap 7 receives an electric signal and is fitted to the tip of the outlet orifice 11. At that time, the liquid absorber 12 containing the solvent of high boiling point is tightly fitted to the tip of the outlet orifice 11. As a result, a recording medium liquid on the tip of the orifice 11 is prevented from being dried.
