Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently remove luppe in slag and obtain starting material required to manufacture glass by removing luppe in slag desulfurized with sada ash; adding silica sand and quick lime; and dissolving them. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined amt. of molten slag desulfurized with soda ash is poured into slag melting vessel 2 horizontally held, and the burners of heating unit 3 are ignited to heat the slag. By maintaining the slag at a high temp. luppe (b) in the slag is separation-precipitated and gathered in hot iron reservoir 22. The slag is melted by heating to measure the components, and silica sand (c) is slowly charged from hopper 31. A necessary amt. of quick lime (d) is further charged from hopper 32. After thoroughly removing luppe in the slag and adjusting the slag to a compsn. necessary to glass starting material, unit 3 is raised, and cylinder 5 is worked to tilt vessel 2, thereby feeding the molten slag as glass starting material from teeming hole 26 to the next process such as a granulation process.
