Abstract
PURPOSE:To better workability and insulation effect without slag inclusion with addition of a powder free of C component and for continuous casting containing a limited amount of carbonate (containing mineral), with the temperature of thermal decomposition and the grain range specified, into the mold in continuous casting of steel. CONSTITUTION:A powder for continuous casting free of C component and containing carbonate (containing mineral) with a thermal decomposition temperature of more than 850 deg.C and with a grain of less than 500 at a proportion of more than 30%, excluding more than 1,000, such as CO3 and BaCO3, at a ratio of 0.4 to 8% by weight in terms of CO2 is added into a mold in the continuous casting of A1-Si killed steel or the like. This method allows the expanded types of steel applicable to continuous casting without containing C components while ensuring better insulation effect.
