Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a silicone resin composition of high heat resistance and flexibility, by incorporating a curing catalyst (and an inorganic filler) in a specific silicone block polymer composed mainly of a relatively high molecular weight methyl polysiloxane.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be prepared by incorporating (1) 0.3-2 parts by wt. of a curing catalyst, and (2) 60 parts by wt. of an inorganic filler and/or a heat-resistant pigment, if necessary, in (3) 100 parts by wt. of a silicone block polymer with a molar ratio: organic group/Si of 1.2-1.5, syvthesized from a methyl polysiloxane of formula I with a number average molecular weight of 9,000-10,000 and a diorganodichlorosilane of formula II (m is 0-100). The above block copolymer can be formed in the following process: Methyltrichiorosilane is hydrolyzed by dropping water corcurrent with polymerization in the presence of an amine in a mixed solvent of a ketone and an ether, obtaining a methylpolysiloxane with an average molecular weight of 9,000-10,000, then dropping a diorganodichlorosilane.
