Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a thermoluminescent fluorescent substance (TL fluorescent substance ) of a specific compsn. of Ce-activated strontium silicate, the sensitivity of which is higher than the max. sensitivity of a conventional substance.
CONSTITUTION: The TL fluorescent substance is made of Ce-activated strontium silicate of formula I (where 0.5≤x≤2.0 and 10-6≤a≤10-3). The following 3 kinds of raw materials are weighed according to formula I, and sufficiently mixed with a ball mill or the like; SrO or a Sr cpd. easily convertible into SrO at high temp., SiO2 or a Si cpd. easily convertible into SiO2 at high temp., and Ce2O3 or a Ce cpd. easily convertible into Ce2O3 at high temp. A flux such as NH4Cl or NH4Br may be used if desired. The mixt. is then calcined in air at 800W1600°C for 0.5W5 hr and recalcined under the same condition once or more to obtain a TL fluorescent substance of good TL intensity.
