Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate both the design and the maintenance by detecting the mounting position of the unit based on the unit address given from the program and in reference to the table in case the higher unit selects the lower unit to perform the data transfer to the lower unit.
CONSTITUTION: Higher unit 1 sets the register selection information to address register 21 and also sets the position identification information to register 28. Under these conditions, the signal is put on bus 34 through comparator circuit 33 within lower unit 2, and the type of unit 2 is informed to unit 1. At the same time, unit 1 examines about the type of unit 2 to produce a table as shown to indicate the relationship between the mounting position, the type of the lower unit and the unit address. The relationship is then registered in control memory unit 9. Unit 1, referring to the table, sets the mounting position code of unit 2 to position identification information register 28. Then AND circuit 42 selects the corresponding one among external register group 24. In other words, unit 2 is identified by its mounting position, thus sharing the constitution of unit 2.
