Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect an accurate vector in real time by reducing the number of correlatives to be calculated in each frame by reversely shifting a moving vector, obtained by detecting a relative block right before a referece position, by the same distance.
CONSTITUTION: A video input is stored in frame memory 5 for one frame and the correlation of an aimed block between two frames is calculated by correlation calculating part 6. At this time, the relative position between the preceding frame and block is given by shift vector generator 7 and as to respective correlative values, minimum gate 8 obtains a moving vector output equivalent to the maximum correlative value. At the same time, this value is stored in moving-vector memory 9 and then inputted to generator 7 at the time of the next frame. Then, the correlation between a noticed block of several picture elements of one frame of a noticed picture and that of a frame advancing in time is found and from the relative position between blocks with this correlation at the maximum, moving vector is obtained which expresses the movement of sequentially- continuous pictures.
