Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the handling and shorten the metering time of a flow meter by automatically controlling the sensitivity of a photoelectric converter and the intensity of a laser beam while using the output signals of the element as the feedback element. CONSTITUTION:When the output voltage of a high voltage power source 14 becomes excessively low, the sensitivity of a photoelectron multiplier 12. As a result, the output pulses of discriminators 17 and 18 are reduced so that no output is generated in a pulse counting unit 19. Since a step voltage generating unit 21 receives the output of the counting unit 19 to generate positive step voltage, the power source 14 receives this to raise the output voltage. A series of these operations are repeated at the preset period of the pulse counting unit the sensitivity of the mutiplier 12 is increased to make the output level and frequency sufficient. If the output voltage of the power source 14 is excessive, the opposite operations to the above are so accomplished that the sensitivity of the multiplier 12 can be always held at a desired level. Thus, it is possible to simplify the handling of a flow meter and to shorten the measuring time.
