Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a diaphragm of low density and high elasticity for acoustic transducers by molding the mixture of boron compound powder and aluminum (or magnesium) powder to a desired shape and sintering the same. CONSTITUTION:100 parts of boron compound (boron, boron nitride, lanthanum hesaboride, etc.) of particle sizes 0.05 to 5mu (a), 20 to 60 parts of aluminum (or magnesium) of nearly the same sizes (b) and 20 to 30 parts of a lubricating and kneading agent which evaporates during sintering (e.g., paraffin) (c) are mixed and this is flowed into the molding molds of a desired shape and is subjected to heating and pressing for about 1 to 10 minutes under the conditions of vacuum degrees 3 X 10<-1> to 5 X 10<-3> torr, pressures 200 to 1000 kg/cm<3> and temperatues 300 to 600 deg.C, whereby the diaphragm composed of the sintered body having the properties of densities 2.3 to 2.5 g/cm<3>, voids 60 to 80% and modulus of elasticity of 20 X 10<10> to 25 X 10<10>(N/m<2>) is obtained.
