Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect existence of a liquid in a tube thereby to generate control signals by detecting the beats which are generated in accordance with the variation in the cacity of a capacitor made up of electrodes attached to the tube.
CONSTITUTION: A capacitor is made up of conductors 2 and 3 which are attached in a facing manner to a tube made of a relatively thin insulating material. Another capacitor is made up of conductors 5 and 6 which are arranged at a preset spacing in the longitudinal direction of a thicker tube 4. The output of a first oscillator 8, which has its oscillatory frequency determined by the capacitor 7 thus made, and the output of a second oscillator 9, which is operative to generate a preset frequency substantially equal to the frequency of the oscillator 8 in case a liquid exists in the tube 1 or 4, are mixed by a mixer 10 to generate beats so that their high frequency components is filtered by means of a frequency separator 11 and converted into a voltage by means of a detector 12. The output voltage of the detector 12 is compared with the reference voltage by means of a comparator 13 so that the existence of the liquid in the tube can be easily detected to generate control signals S.
