Abstract

PURPOSE:To coat the outer peripheral surface of an optical fiber uniformly with a polymer, while preventing the fiber itself from becoming mechanically fragile, by supplying gases along the outer periphery of an optical fiber material to cool it down immediately after it is extracted from a heating furnace.
