Game equipment
The present invention relates to a game device, and more particularly to a game device for detecting a position of a play piece in the device.
Device for providing a detector for a device.
Many dikes have been made in the past to detect the position of a play piece on a game board.
However, these proposals are relatively complex, with specially constructed game pieces and board
Requires use, which is particularly undesirable in the gaming field and is expensive.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,082,286 discloses that a transmitting and receiving coil is provided below a play position,
Frequency current is supplied alternately to each transmitting coil, and the voltage induced in the receiving coil is detected.
An electronic game device is disclosed. Game pieces in the game area being tested
Affects the voltage induced in the receiving coil, and therefore the presence of the play piece
, Absence or type can be determined. Such attempts are
Relying on measurements of changes in conductance, and in implementation, the system
Only two different types of playpieces that can measure the increase or decrease in reactance
Can only be discriminated, and thus have very limited uses.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,130,047 discloses a metal contact where each play position is connected to an electrical circuit.
Discloses a game play device that is divided into two halves formed as: Conductive
When a playpiece with a sex base is placed in the play position, the playpiece is guided between the two halves.
An electrical connection is established, thereby completing the electrical circuit and detecting the presence of the playpiece. This
The main disadvantage of such an approach is that the contact points are exposed, and
Is exposed to the danger of short circuits due to leakage, etc.
May be dangerous to players, especially children,
Is undesirable.
According to the present invention, a game device comprises: a play surface defining an array of play positions;
A pair of cores placed behind at least one of the
A game piece detector with a capacitor plate and a capacitor plate connected to each detector
A monitoring system that monitors nearby resistance values and provides a corresponding output;
1 having a surface having electric resistance disposed on or adjacent to a playing surface in use
At least one set of play pieces, wherein the play pieces are located at play positions associated with the detector.
The resistance surface is detected by a detector so that the surveillance system can monitor the resistance value of the playpiece.
, But is capacitively coupled to the detector.
The new inspired game device has a game piece that has a substantially conventional structure.
This is particularly advantageous because it is only necessary to provide a surface having electrical resistance.
There is no need to incorporate special electronic circuits into the playpiece, which reduces the overall cost of the device and
And complexity are significantly reduced. Still further, the present invention provides a detector behind a play position.
The placement avoids the problems described above with respect to exposed contacts. Yes
Advantageously, a voltage is defined between one of the capacitor plates and the electrical resistance surface of the playpiece.
Capacitors, the resistance specified by the resistance plane, and the resistance plane and other capacitors.
A series arrangement with a second capacitor defined between the first electrode and the second electrode;
The impedance provided by the two capacitances
Is relatively small, the measured total resistance in such a series
It can be effectively equal to the resistance value of the resistance surface. Thus, the electric power between the game piece and the detector
Monitor the resistance value of the electric resistance surface of the play piece at the play position while avoiding pneumatic contact.
It is relatively easy to see. Further, as described below,
That the present invention monitors resistance values rather than other characteristics such as transconductance.
By fact, it is much easier to discriminate between several different play pieces.
In some cases, contact the electrical resistance surface between the two at a position separated from the base of the game piece.
To ensure that there is no
Insulated from However, the electrical resistance surface is located at the base of each game piece that contacts the game surface.
Preferably, the playing surface is electrically insulated from the detector. For example,
Dispenser is coated with an insulating coating or physically separated from the playing surface
It is possible.
If the game device includes a plurality of play pieces, only one of the play pieces has an electrical resistor.
A repelling surface can also be provided. This means that the game can locate one special play piece
Suitable when only monitoring is required. However, all game pieces have electrical
Desirably, a facing surface is provided. In such a case, the electrical resistance surface should have the same resistance
Value, but in a desirable configuration, the electrical resistance surface of at least some
Have different resistance values so that they can be discriminated.
In general, only one play piece shall be placed at a time in the play position associated with the detector.
Is done. However, in some applications, two (or more) play pieces are placed in the same play position.
Could be. In some cases, this means that
If each has an electric resistance surface, it may not be possible to distinguish the type of this play piece
Means that. However, to properly select the resistance value of the surface of all game pieces
Any combination of game pieces can be used to distinguish which game piece
All monitoring different from any one of the pieces (or any combination of such play pieces)
It is also possible to guarantee that a response will occur.
Similarly, in some cases, the detector must always be located in relation to one play position
Can also. However, in a preferred configuration, the detector is more than one, and preferably all
Is associated with the play position. In such a case, the surveillance system will
Polls each detector alternately to determine which playpiece is placed
It is desirable to do.
Typically, the monitoring system has two poles for each detector at a frequency of about 100 KHz.
The resistance between the plates is measured. An infinite resistance value indicates that there are no play pieces,
A finite resistance value of a particular value identifies the play piece at the play position. To measure the resistance value
, Can be implemented in several ways as described below.
The play surface itself is generally flat, but it is assumed that play pieces can be placed on the play surface.
However, other forms such as a curved shape can be adopted.
An embodiment of a game device according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
I do.

Are separated from the capacitor plates 4 and 6 by an insulating coating 11. resistance
The conductive coating 13 is formed by a suitable combination of conductive ink and resistive ink.
It is formed. In fact, the physical dimensions of the resistive coating 13 in each game piece are
Qualitatively the same, so the difference in resistance value will result in a coating with different resistivity
With a combination of inks that are appropriately modified as described above. For a typical game
There are 12 to 20 game pieces, each with a different resistivity
With a functional coating.
The configuration of the processing electronics is shown in more detail in FIG. This electronic circuit is

To form a series connection between them. At a frequency of 100 KHz, 1 MΩ
By using a large-sized coating resistor, it is exhibited by two capacitors.
Impedance can be relatively small compared to the resistance of the coating.
it can. Alternatively, if an oscillator frequency of magnitude 27 MHz is used
, Resulting in each capacitance exhibiting an impedance of about 100Ω,
The result is that a relatively low coating resistance of the order of 100 KΩ can be used.
In each case, the electrical resistance of the coating is represented by the capacitance.
Are selected to be significantly higher than the
Can effectively ignore the dance. Next, monitor the current flowing through the resistor.
And the current is monitored, and this current further reduces the voltage drop across resistors 48-53.
Monitored by monitoring. Represented by the current from difference amplifier 58
This voltage drop is used to represent the monitored resistance.
Dummy column Col 5 is provided to eliminate effects caused by stray capacitance.
Given to. This dummy column is not affected by the play pieces, and
The signal monitored from represents the effect of stray capacitance and is applied to the difference amplifier 58.
Simply subtract from the signal received from the appropriate one of the columns Col 0 to Col 4
It just gets done.
In some cases, the dummy columns are defined by a set of detectors arranged in parallel with the other columns.
But this is not required, and in such situations the player
There is a risk that the signal from the dummy column can be affected. Follow
Thus, in the preferred configuration as shown in FIG. 5, each dummy column has a row R
connected in series with each of the lines ow 0-Row 5 and in parallel with the lines in column Col 5
6 includes one set of capacitor / resistor elements. These are shown in FIG.
61 to 66.
In the description of the present text, it is assumed that the play piece rests at the play position under gravity.
However, other means such as magnets may be used to hold the game pieces in place.
It is possible.
