Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transfer efficiency at the time of data communication by detecting that data to be transmitted are few or do not exist in one frame having plural transmission slots and reception slots, switching a part of the transmission slots to the reception slots and improving the transfer speed of reception data. SOLUTION: The first slot is always used for transmission. When transmission data are few, the transmission slot of the third slot is switched to the reception slot. Namely, transmission data of a mobile radio communication terminal-side is detected with the first frame. When transmission data does not exist in this frame, a part of the transmission slot (up) of the next frame is allocated to the reception slot (down). Then, the mobile radio communication terminal-side reports that the transmission slot of the next slot is allocated to the reception slot to a connection device-side. The connection device-side sets the designated slot to the self-slot and transfers data. Thus, the transfer speed of reception data can be improved and the power consumption of the mobile radio communication terminal-side can be reduced.

2. Description of the Related Art At present, PHS (Personal Handyphone Syst.
em) is rapidly spreading. The PHS is a new-generation digital mobile communication system that started its service in 1995, and can share a home telephone and a mobile telephone. Unlike a mobile phone, the area covered by a base station is as narrow as a few hundred meters in radius, and thus has the advantage of requiring only a small radio output. Therefore, the size and weight of the terminal device can be reduced. The coverage area of the mobile phone base station is relatively large with a radius of 1.5 to several kilometers.

First, a description will be given with reference to FIG. FIG.
(A) is a transmission slot (up) at the time of 64 kbit / s transfer.
FIG. 1B shows a reception slot (downlink) at the time of 64 kbit / s transfer. When the first slot is always used for transmission and the amount of transmission data is small, the third slot transmission slot is switched to the reception slot. That is, the presence or absence of transmission data (uplink) on the mobile communication terminal side is detected in the first frame. If there is no transmission data in this frame, a part of the transmission slot (uplink) of the next frame is allocated to the reception slot (downlink).

Next, the mobile communication terminal reports to the connection device side that there is no transmission data and that the transmission slot (uplink) of the next slot is to be allocated to the reception slot (downlink), using an associated control channel or the like. The connection device that has received this report sets the designated slot as a reception slot (downlink) and performs data transfer.

In the above configuration, when browsing a www (world wide web) through an Internet connection or when downloading a file, most of the received data is viewed from the terminal side, and the transmitted data is small. easy. In such a state, in the conventional slot configuration as shown in FIG. 3, a large number of so-called idle slots in which valid data are not included in the transmission slot occur.
Poor transfer efficiency.

Therefore, in the digital radio communication apparatus of the present invention shown in FIG.
(A) Slots (hatched slots) are transferred to reception slots. As a result, an improvement in the transfer speed of the received data at the time of accessing the Internet can be expected. In other words, effective use of frequency can be achieved because unnecessary idle slots are reduced. Even if there is no data in the slot switched to the receiving slot on the terminal side (that is, even if the slot is an idle slot), the transmission time of the mobile terminal that is highly driven by the battery decreases, so that the communicable time is reduced. Has the effect that it can be extended.

Next, a brief description will be given with reference to FIG. When the transmission data is smaller than that in the case of FIG. 1, the transmission is stopped except for the first and third transmission slots, which are the minimum slots necessary for maintaining the communication. These slots can be used as reception slots if necessary.

As described above, while each frame is conventionally separated and fixed into a transmission slot and a reception slot, according to the present invention, when there is no data to be transmitted, this is detected and at least the transmission slot is detected. Some are transferred to reception slots. Therefore, it is possible to improve the transfer speed of the received data and reduce the power consumption of the mobile communication terminal. In particular, a remarkable effect can be expected when the amount of received data is sufficiently larger than the amount of transmitted data on the mobile communication terminal side, such as when accessing the Internet.
