マイクロプロセッサを用いた光学的回転制御装置
発明の分野
本発明は一般に光学的回転制御装置に関し、さらに詳しくは、無線周波数通信
装置のための光学的回転制御装置に関する。
発明の背景
電子装置のためのスイッチ、及び、他の調整用つまみ(controls)は
、一般に複数の部品を必要とする別々の組立部材である。部品の総数がより多く
なり、装置だけでなくコストも収容することが要求される装置の大きさ、および
、空間の増大が一般に必要となる。さらに、部品の総数の増大により、信頼性の
面の減少が生ずる。多くの部品からなる別々の調整用つまみは、電子装置と相互
接続する事が難しい。別々の調整用つまみは、残りの電子装置に制御部材から作
られた別個の相互接続が必要であり、一般には、PCB(印刷回路基板:Pri
nted Circuit Board)上に収容される。相互接続は、フレッ
クス回路(flex circuit),手でハンダ付けされた接合部(han
d soldered joints)および配線接続(wire conne
ction)を必要とし、これらすべてはコスト及び電子装置の大きさを増大さ

提供しない。換言すれば、そのような従来の光学装置は、未知の状態から適切な
情報を与えるだけである。あるいは、光学受信機に反射した光の強度を計測する
光学制御装置もまた周知であり、この件に関してはブラナン他による米国特許番
号4,964,693号に開示される。そのような装置は、反射した光の強度を
計測することができる適切な回路構成を必要とする。

発明の詳細な説明
第1図は、本発明による光学的制御装置10の断面図を示す。制御装
置10は、無線機筐体16の中のフレキシブル回路又はPCB(印刷回路基板)
などの回路組立部品の上に搭載された放射状の配列12を含む。ノブ20は、音
量やチャネル撰択などの無線機のパラメータを制御するために無線機筐体16の
外側に位置する。ノブ20の中に搭載されるものは、光指導子14である。光指
導子14は、無線機筐体16を介して伸張し、放射状配列12と一定間隔を置く
か、回路組立部品18状の放射状配列12と回転可能に接続する。あるいは、光
指導子14は、回転可能に無線機筐体に付き、放射状配列を超えて回転できるよ
うに一定間隔を置く。
第2図に本発明による放射状配列の好適な実施例を示す。示される放射状配列
12は、円形であるが、半円形でも又は、中心開口部34の周りに8つの放射状
に位置する開口部36によって囲まれるアイソレータ部26の放射状の模様が中
心開口部34で定義されれば、どのような形状でも可能である。応用例によって
は、中心開口部34の周りに位置する開口部36の放射の数は変化してもよい。
アイソレータ部26の中心開口部34は、LED(光放射ダイオード)などの光
源を受信(receiving)および絶縁(isolating)するための
ものである。中心の開口部34の周りに8つの放射状に配列した開口部36は、

ロジック・ダイ(logic die)38は、放射状の配列12'のアイ
ソレータ部分26に不可欠(integral)で、回路組立部品18上に別々
に搭載される。ロジック・ダイ38は、フォトトランジスタ24からの入力を受
信し、入力による別々の制御状態を無線機のマイクロプロセッサに出力する。ロ
ジック・ダイ38は、励起されたフォトトランジスタ24を復号化し、それに従
って所望の制御状態を出力する。真理値表(truth table)に基づく
