Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow the user to make pen input without using a screen for an electronic pen by providing a position sensor, a pressure sensor, a battery and an information processing transducer or the like to a rod shaped like a pen. CONSTITUTION: A position sensor 1, a pressure sensor 2, a battery 5 and an information processing transducer 3 are provided to a rod 4 shaped like a pen. Since the locus of the pen is recognized and a locus of a pen tip is also recognized through the successive transmission of pen position information, the locus of the pen tip is displayed on a monitor when a pressure is applied to the pen tip. Since the pen sends successively the position information, a stereoscopic locus in air is expressed, and when a position reference point of the pen is set by the monitor or the like, the monitor or the like is used to indicate the position reference point. Then a distance or a direction from the reference position are recognized. Moreover, a key board, a mouse, a mouse sheet and a screen for the electronic pen are not required, then a space for other purposes is extended.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventional pen input includes an electronic pen that sends information by bringing the pen into contact with a screen or a screen for an electronic pen. With the electronic pen, if you don't use the screen for the electronic pen, you will only use the monitor, which is difficult to use. The position of the pen is judged by touching the screen. You also need a screen location for your electronic pen. The mouse cannot float and move because the position does not change unless the ball is rolled.

Example A position sensor, a pressure sensor, an information processing oscillator, and a battery were attached to a pen-shaped rod. If the position information of the pen is continuously sent, the trajectory of the pen can be known. Since you can see the trajectory of the tip of the pen, when pressure is applied to the tip of the pen,
The trace of the tip of the pen can be displayed on the monitor. When this pen is used like a normal pencil, the trace drawn when pressure is applied to the pen tip can be displayed on the monitor.
It is possible to judge, identify, and recognize characters and the like based on the trajectory when pressure is applied to the tip of the pen.
Since the pressure sensor is also at the rear end, the pressure applied to the front and rear ends of the pen can be known, and information such as the magnitude of the pressure can also be sent. If you recognize that the pressure of the pen is high when the pressure is high, you can increase the display of the position indicated by the pen on the monitor, or make it smaller, bold, fine, darker, or lighter depending on the pressure. I can. You can also use the button with the pressure sensor because you can see the pressure on the back of the pen. Imagine the rear end of a pen as if it were a pencil eraser with an eraser. The tip of this pen is bold, the back is thin,
Or, it can be assumed and virtual to various objects such as the opposite or a two-color pen. For example, where you grasp with a saw blade, where you hold it with the tip of a screw,
Though it has a pen shape, it can be used as a virtual pen, assuming various things. With a pencil, no trace will be left unless force is applied to the core, but since this pen can continuously send position information, it can also represent a three-dimensional trajectory in the air. If the position reference of this pen is set on a monitor or the like, the monitor or the like becomes the position reference. Then, the distance and direction from the reference position can be known. If you try to use it like a mouse on a personal computer input device, this pen can give you location information, so you know the location. With this pen, you can float the pen and move it.
The click can be done by applying pressure to the tip of the pen or the rear end of the pen. For example, the tip of the pen can be clicked once if it is attached to the tongue, clicked if it is attached to the bottom, and double-clicked if it is attached to the tip of the pen, such as clicking while the pen is under pressure. You can make this pen move longer or shorter than it actually is. When inputting characters with the pen is troublesome, you can display the keyboard image on the monitor and click. keyboard,
Images such as the Japanese syllabary, alphabets, symbols, and numeric keyboard, or those that overlap with other images due to top and bottom on the monitor screen, etc. When you want to see it, see through the top image. When using the keyboard image, the software used should not need to be pressed with two or more fingers at the same time. When the monitor is on the extension of the pen direction, it is possible to know the position of the pen on the monitor. This pen can also know the extension line of the pen direction. You can also see the distance between the trail of the pen and the trail. You can also see the distance, time, and speed of pen movement. In addition to the position sensor, the position of the pen can be notified by using the reflection from an object like a radar, by tracking like an infrared tracking device, or by sending information like a GPS. There is also a gyro, etc., which can be used as a substitute for the position sensor.

Since the keyboard, mouse, sheet for mouse, and screen for electronic pen are not required, other places can be used. The image of the conventional personal computer has changed significantly. It is also useful for fax machines that do not need to use paper.
