Abstract

(57)【要約】 【目的】 本発明は、電気通信網によって生成されるメ
ッセージ、とりわけ被呼者に関する情報を発呼者に与え
るメッセージに関する。 【構成】 発呼者が被呼者に対して電話網を通じて長距
離呼を掛ける場合、発呼者が被呼者の電話番号を入力し
てから呼が完結するまでに遅延が存在する。この保持時
間の際に、被呼者の地理上の位置に固有のメッセージが
ダイアルされた電話番号から収集された情報に基づいて
合成され、発呼者に送られる。このメッセージには、被
呼者の地理上の位置の識別、被呼者の位置における時刻
及び日付、ニュース、気象、或は他のその地域に固有の
情報が含まれる。このメッセージはまた宣伝情報を含む
こともできる。

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、電気通信網によって生
成されるメッセージに関する。より詳細には、本発明
は、電気通信網によって生成される被呼者に関する情報
を発呼者に与えるメッセージに関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】発呼者が電気通信網を通じて被呼者に長
距離電話呼を掛ける場合、発呼者は、電気通信網が被呼
者への接続を完結している間に比較的長い保持時間を待
たされる。
【０００３】
【発明が解決しようとする課題】この保持時間の間に、
発呼者は時間を待たなければならないだけでなく、被呼
者への接続を完結する際に電気通信網によって生成され
る様々な不快な音を聞くこととなる。
【０００４】
【課題を解決するための手段】本出願人はこの保持時間
が発呼者に様々な有益な情報アナウンスメントを供給す
るために好都合に使用できることを発見した。これは、
電話会社によって提供されるサービスの価値を大きく向
上させ、長距離電話呼を完結するのと関連する保持時間
の欠点を克服する。本発明の一例においては、発呼者に
被呼者の地理上の位置及びその地理上の位置における時
刻（day of time ）を識別する音声メッセージが与えら
れる。この例においては、被呼者の電話番号が発呼者か
ら電話網によって受信され、電話網は、次に発呼者と被
呼者との間に呼を確立する。受信された電話番号の事前
に定義された特性が電話網内において検出され、被呼者
の地理上の位置及びその位置における時刻を識別する音
声メッセージが発呼者と被呼者との間の接続が確立され
ている間に被呼者に流される。地理上の位置及び時刻を
識別するメッセージを流す代わりに、被呼者の電話番号
の性質に応答して呼の確立の際に発呼者に他のメッセー
ジを流すこともできる。

【実施例】図１は発呼者１０から被呼者１２に掛けられ
た一例としての国際電話呼を巻き込む本発明の一例を示
す。この電話呼はローカル交換搬送業者（local exchan
gecarrier、ＬＥＣ）、例えば、地方ベル運営会社（reg
ional Bell Operating Companies 、ＲＢＯＣ）の一つ
によって提供されるローカル電話網１４から成る一例と
しての電話網を通じて接続される。網１４は発呼者１０
を交換局間搬送業者（interexchange carrier ）、例え
ば、ＡＴ＆Ｔによって提供される長距離網１８内に位置
する発信市外交換機１６に接続する。市外交換機１６に
加えて、長距離網１８は、被呼者１２の電話番号を発呼
者１０から受信し、中距離網１８内の適当な伝送設備２
２を通じて発呼者１０と被呼者１２との間に適当な接続
を生成する信号法網２０を含む。発呼者１０によって発
信された国際電話呼は国際ゲートウエイ交換機２４に向
けられ、次に、外国電話網２６を通じて被呼者１２に接
続される。これらは図１には示されないが、網１４及び
２６は、発呼者１０と被呼者１２の間のそれらの対応す
る部分の接続を実現するために適当な伝送設備を通じて
一つの通信路を生成する対応する信号法網を持つ。
【０００６】発呼者１０は被呼者１２の電話番号をダイ
アルすることによって国際呼を開始する。本発明のこの
例においては、発呼者１０は、最初に一連の数字、例え
ば、“０１１”をダイアルすることによって、その電話
呼が国際電話呼であることを合図する。発呼者１０は、
次に、最初に国コード（country code）を表わし、次に
都市（city code ）を表わす一連の数字をダイアルす
る。これらコードの一つ或は両方が本発明に従って被呼
者１２の地理上の位置を識別し、次に、発呼者１０に流
されるべき適当な音声メッセージを生成するために使用
される。発呼者１０は、国際呼の指標、国コード、及び
都市コードをダイアルした後に、最後に、被呼者１２を
一意的に識別する一連の数字をダイアルする。発呼者１
０が被呼者１２の電話番号をダイアルするのに応答し
て、図１に示される電話網は、発呼者１０と被呼者１２
との間にこれらの二者の間に電話呼を実現するために接
続を確立する。上に述べたように、電話番号を電話網に
入力してから被呼者への呼がこの網を通じて確立される
までの間に、発呼者が待たなければならないかなりの量
の保持時間が存在する。この保持時間の間、例えば、国
コード、或は都市コード及び国コードの両方がダイアル
された時点から被呼者１２の呼び出しが開始される時点
までの間に、被呼者１２の地理上の位置に特有のメッセ
ージを発呼者１０に流すことができる。これとの関連
で、本発明のこの例においては、発信市外交換機１６と
関連する音声メッセージプロセッサ１７が存在するが、
これは、被呼者１２への呼の確立が完了する前の保持時
間の際にこれら地域に特有のメッセージが流すために使
用される。後により詳細に説明されるように、音声メッ
セージプロセッサ１７は、発呼者１０によってダイアル
された国コード及び都市コードの一つ或は両方に応答し
て、発呼者１０に与えられる被呼者１２の地理上の位置
に関連する幾つかの情報を与えるメッセージを生成す
る。この情報には、地理上の位置の識別、その地理上の
位置における時刻、その位置における日付、その位置に
関するニュース、或はその位置における気候が含まれ
る。
【０００７】図２は呼び出されている地理上の位置及び
その位置における時間を識別するメッセージを流す音声
メッセージプロセッサ１７の一例を図解するブロック図
である。このようなメッセージを発呼者１０に流すこと
の具体的な長所として、発呼者１０が誤った地域或は番
号にダイアルした場合、或は被呼者１２の地域における
適当でない時間に呼び出してしまった場合に、その電話
呼に料金が掛けられる前に発呼者１０がその電話呼を破
棄できることが含まれる。これは、発呼者１０にとって
のお金の節約となるばかりでなく、電話会社が誤って掛
けられた電話呼に対する料金の払い戻しに対する要求を
処理しなければならない回数を低減する。
【０００８】発呼者１０が被呼者１２の国際番号をダイ
アルすると、国コード及び都市コードの一つ或は両方が
交換機１６によって図２に示されるレジスタ２８内に格
納される。レジスタ２８の内容は、ライン２９上を検出
器３０に送られるが、これは国コード及び都市コードの
一つ或は両方を音声メッセージブロックのダイアル表現
に翻訳する。ライン２９上のメッセージブロックは被呼
者の地理上の位置を識別し、ライン３２上をメッセージ
アセンブラ３４の入力に送られる。呼が単一の時間帯の
みを持つ国或は他の地理上の位置に向けられた場合は、
国コード或は被呼者の電話番号の相当する部分のみを翻
訳するだけでよい。呼が複数の時間帯を持つ国或は他の
地理上の位置に向けられた場合は、国コード及び都市コ
ード或はこれらに相当する番号の両方を翻訳しなければ
ならない。レジスタ２８の内容はライン３５を通じて時
間帯データベース３６にも送られるが、これは、世界中
の各時間帯に対して一つの値を持つ時間帯オフセット値
の集合体を含む。レジスタ２８の内容はデータベース３
６にアクセスし、データベース３６はこれに応答してラ
イン３７上に一つの時間帯オフセット値を出力し、これ
は時刻コンピュータ（time of day computer）３８に向
けられる。ライン３７上に生成される時間帯オフセット
値は被呼者１２の地理上の位置に対して固有のものであ
る。クロック３９はライン４０上に基準時間値（refere
nce time value）を生成するが、これも時刻コンピュー
タ３８に入力される。クロック３９は任意の基準時間、
例えば、交換機１６の所のローカル時間、グリニッジ標
準時（Greenwich Mean Time ）、或は網によって保持さ
れる或は外部ソースから得られる他の便利な時間を表わ
す基準時間値を生成する。時間帯データベース内に格納
されるこれらオフセット値は被呼者１２の位置の所のロ
ーカル時刻の正確なデジタル表現を生成するためにクロ
ック３９から得られる基準時間値に加えられる或はこれ
から引かれるべき値である。これとの関連で、時刻コン
ピュータ３８は、ライン４２上の被呼者位置の時刻の表
現を生成するためにライン４０上の基準時間値にライン
３７上の時間帯オフセット値を加え、或は時間帯オフセ
ット値をこれから引く。ライン４２上の値は時刻メッセ
ージデータベース４４にアドレスするために使用される
が、時刻メッセージデータベース４４は、発呼者１０に
よって呼び出される可能性のある各々の地理上の地域内
の時刻を知らせる音声メッセージの一群のデジタル表現
を含む。このデータベースは、被呼者１２の地理上の位
置における時刻の表現を生成し、これは、ライン４６上
を音声メッセージアセンブラ３４へと送られる。
【０００９】クロック３９、時間帯データベース３６、
及び時刻コンピュータ３８はまた被呼位置における日付
を表わすメッセージブロックがライン４６上に生成さ
れ、発呼者に送られるメッセージ内の適当な位置に置か
れるように構成することもできる。これは、発呼者が時
刻の差のみでなく日付も異なるような位置に呼を掛けよ
うと試みるような場合には便利である。日付は全ての呼
に対して自動的に与えることも、或は幾つかの呼に対し
てのみ選択的に与えることもできる。これを達成するた
めには、コンピュータ３８或は他の適当なシステムが発
呼者位置の日付が被呼者位置の日付と異なる場合を検出
するように構成される。この日付の異なりは、ローカル
時間及びクロック３９から得られる日付情報並びにデー
タベース３６から得られる時間オフセット値との関連で
決定することができる。
【００１０】メッセージテンプレート（message templa
te）がレジスタ４８内に格納され、ライン５０上をメッ
セージアセンブラ３４の入力へと送られる。このメッセ
ージテンプレートは被呼者がどこに位置するかに無関係
に全ての発呼者に対して共通のメッセージの部分を構成
する。例えば、レジスタ４８内に格納されるメッセージ
テンプレートは以下のようであり得る：“Thank you fo
r using AT&T to call ;the local time is
. （ へ電話するに当ってＡＴ＆Ｔを利用して頂
いてありがとうございます；ローカル時間は、 で
す）”。（上に書き出したメッセージテンプレートのテ
キストから明かのように、発呼者に流されるメッセージ
は電話会社が自身及び他の事業について宣伝するための
機会を与える。）音声メッセージアセンブラ３４はライ
ン３２上に出現する被呼者１２の地理上の位置を識別す
るメッセージブロックを上に説明された一例としてのメ
ッセージテンプレート内の第二のブランク内に挿入す
る。被呼者位置における日付を表わすメッセージブロッ
クがライン４６上に存在する場合は、これもテンプレー
ト内の第一のブランクスペース内に入れることができ
る。このメッセージ処理機能を遂行する市販の回路の一
例として、ＡＴ＆Ｔ会話型音声情報システム（AT&T Con
versant Voice Information System）、或は図１及び２
に示される機能、或はこれに相当する機能を実行するた
めにプログラム或は構成された同様のシステムを挙げる
ことができる。
【００１１】上に説明された事項は単に長距離電話呼の
完結と関連する保持時間の際に発呼者に地域に特有のメ
ッセージを流すシステムの一例にすぎない。他の例にお
いては、国コード及び都市コードが検出され、地域に特
有なメッセージブロックが適当なメッセージテンプレー
トに加えられ、発呼者に、彼或は彼女が電話呼の完結を
待っている間に被呼者の位置におけるニュース及び気候
などのような情報を与えるメッセージが生成される。発
呼者に流されるメッセージの別の例としては商業上の宣
伝なども含まれる。
【００１２】図１は長距離網１８内の発信市外交換機と
関連する音声メッセージプロセッサ１７を示すが、メッ
セージプロセッサ１７は、発呼者１０と被呼者１２との
間の任意の適当な網要素と関連付けることができる。例
えば、音声メッセージプロセッサは、ローカル電話網１
４内に位置することも、海外電話網２６の所に位置する
ことも、或は長距離網内の異なる網要素、例えば、国際
ゲートウエイ交換機２４の所に位置することもできる。
全てのケースにおいて、音声メッセージプロセッサは現
存の網要素に接続された別個のハードウエア要素でっあ
っても、或は現存する網要素の統合された一部分、例え
ば、現存する交換システム、例えば、市外交換機１６或
はゲートウエイ交換機２４内にロードされたソフトウエ
アであっても良い。プロセッサ１７によって生成された
メッセージが正確で最新のものであることが保証される
ようにメッセージプロセッサ１７が配置される網の適当
な部分内に適当な供給システム（provisioning system
）が提供されるべきであり、ニュース或は気象情報な
どのように耐えず変わる情報が扱われる場合は特にこれ
が重要である。
【００１３】図１及び２には国際電話呼を巻き込む本発
明の一例が示されたが、本発明は、十分に長い保持時間
を伴う長距離及び地方への国内電話呼に対しても等しく
適用できるものである。このようなケースにおいては、
エリアコードの文字及び被呼者の電話番号内の交換数字
（exchange digits ）がメッセージテンプレート内に挿
入すべき適当な地域に特有なメッセージブロックを生成
するために分析され、こうしてアセンブルされたメッセ
ージが次に保持時間の際に発呼者に流される。

Claims (10)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 電気通信網内で発呼者から被呼者に電話
    呼を完結するための方法であって、この方法が：発呼者
    から被呼者の電話番号を受信するステップ；電話網内で
    前記の電話番号の受信に応答して発呼者と被呼者との間
    の接続を確立するステップ；被呼者の地理上の位置を識
    別する電話番号の事前に決定された特性を検出するステ
    ップ；及び接続の確立が進んでいる間に前記の事前に決
    定された特性に応答して被呼者の地理上の位置に固有の
    情報から成る音声メッセージを発呼者に送るステップを
    含むことを特徴とする方法。
  2. 【請求項２】 請求項１の方法において、前記の電話番
    号の事前に決定された特性が国コードであることを特徴
    とする方法。
  3. 【請求項３】 請求項１の方法において、前記の電話番
    号の事前に決定された特性が国コード及び都市コードで
    あることを特徴とする方法。
  4. 【請求項４】 請求項１の方法において、前記の電話番
    号の事前に決定された特性が地域コードであることを特
    徴とする方法。
  5. 【請求項５】 請求項１の方法において、前記の音声メ
    ッセージが被呼者の地理上の位置の識別から成ることを
    特徴とする方法。
  6. 【請求項６】 請求項１の方法において、前記の音声メ
    ッセージが被呼者の地理上の位置における時刻の識別か
    ら成ることを特徴とする方法。
  7. 【請求項７】 請求項１の方法において、前記の音声メ
    ッセージが被呼者の地理上の位置の識別及び被呼者の地
    理上の位置における時刻から成ることを特徴とする方
    法。
  8. 【請求項８】 請求項７の方法において、前記の電話呼
    の検出された事前に決定された特性に応答してメッセー
    ジデータベースから被呼者の地理上の位置を識別する音
    声メッセージを取り出すステップ；前記の電話呼の検出
    された事前に決定された特性に応答して時間帯データベ
    ースから時間帯オフセット値を取り出すステップ；前記
    の電話網内のクロック回路によって示される時刻値を検
    出するステップ；前記の時間帯オフセット値及び網の時
    刻値に応答して被呼者の地理上の位置に対する時刻値を
    確認するステップ；その地理上に位置に対して確認され
    た時刻値に応答して被呼者の地理上の位置における実際
    の時刻に関する時刻メッセージブロックを取り出すステ
    ップ；及び発呼者に送られる音声メッセージを生成する
    ために前記の地理上の位置を識別するメッセージブロッ
    クと前記の時刻メッセージブロックをメッセージテンプ
    レートに加えるステップがさらに含まれることを特徴と
    する方法。
  9. 【請求項９】 請求項１の方法において、前記の音声メ
    ッセージが被呼者の地理上の位置に関係するニュースか
    ら成ることを特徴とする方法。
  10. 【請求項１０】 請求項１の方法において、前記の音声
    メッセージが被呼者の地理上の位置に関する気象情報か
    ら成ることを特徴とする方法。
